On 23rd of March 2017, two Doctoral students of the School of Communication won the USM Three Minutes Thesis Competition 2017 for the Social Science category. With just three minute to explain her research, Tan Poh Ling emerged the winner for the category with her presentation on factors influencing mindfulness at the heritage sites. Peter Soh Weng Khai won the second prize for the same category with his interesting topic on representation of metrosexuality in Korean dramas. Both of them received RM600 and RM400 respectively.
The USM 3MT 2017 competition was organised by the Institute of Postgraduate Studies USM to challenge doctoral students of the university to present and effectively communicate their research topics and findings to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes. This year, forty contestants participated in one of the three categories namely Social Science, Science and Technology and Engineering. Winners of each of the categories will further compete for the national title in the Malaysia 3MT 2017, to be hosted by USM in May 2017.
