We are pleased to announce the 2nd International Conference on Media, Communication and Culture (ICMCC2015) with the theme ONE MESSAGE, MULTIPLE PLATFORMS. The conference will be held in Penang, at the Vistana Hotel from the 30th November to 2nd December, 2015.
The conference will be organized by the SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION, UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA (USM) in cooperation with the COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT, UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA (UMY) and UNIVERSITAS MERCU BUANA, JAKARTA (UMB). This is the 2nd collaboration between USM and UMY.
139 Communication Students Graduated at USM’s 50th Convocation
A total of 139 Communication ex-students received their scrolls at USM’s golden jubilee convocation ceremony held on the 5th to 9th November 2014.
97 graduated with Bachelor degrees and 42 were awarded postgraduate degrees. From the number of 97 undergraduates, 41 majored in Film & Broadcasting, 21 in Journalism and 35 in Persuasive Communication.
Among the 42 postgraduates, four received their Degree in Philosophy (Ph.D), 26 received their Master’s degrees majoring in Integrated Marketing Communication, seven in Master of Communication, three in Master of Screen Studies and two in Master of Science & Environmental Journalism.
The postgraduate scrolls were awarded on the 6th of November, while the undergraduates received their scrolls on 9th of November. All sessions were held at Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang.
Meanwhile, a third year Journalism student, Michele Ng Heng Kim received an Honorary Award for overall best Journalism student for the academic year 2013.
The School of Communication wins at the Postgraduate Management Innovation Award 2014
Penang, 20 October- The School of Communication won 2nd place at the Postgraduate Management Innovation Award 2014 in the Mail Chimp category for an e-mail marketing software that has been utilised by the school’s Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) Program Coordinator, Dr Hasrina Mustafa. The Mail Chimp application has been used by the School of Communication for marketing its post graduate programmes since early 2014.
Majlis Persada Kencana, organized by the Post Graduate Institute (IPS), Universiti Sains Malaysia is an annual event that gives recognition and awards to postgraduate students who have outstanding achievements in the field of their studies. The event also recognises academic and administrative staff who have shown excellent performance in the management of postgraduate studies in USM.
