School of Communication

Student Association

Persatuan Komunikasi, better known as PERKOM, is a student association focused on education and welfare activities for the undergraduates of School of Communication. PERKOM also gives students the opportunity to experience and participate in a wide range of projects such as community service projects, school annual events and student welfare issues. In addition, PERKOM also helps the School of Communication in facilitating the school's programs, such as the Dean's Award Ceremony.

Among the activities pioneered by PERKOM are academic programs, such as the Regional Communication Student Colloquium (RCSC). RCSC aims to provide a platform for students to exchange their knowledge and perspectives.

PERKOM has also initiated a sharing session entitled "Wartawan Di Era Pandemik," featuring two journalists, Izwan Rozlin from Sinar Harian and Mohamed Basyir Mohamed Ibrahim from NSTP. During the session, the interesting speakers discussed both their positive and negative experiences they had as journalists covering the epidemic.

In March 2021, PERKOM held a news reading contest. This programme aims to hone the hidden talents of students, especially communication students.

In terms of welfare program, PERKOM had introduced a program called GORANGE 3.0. The objective of the programme is to educate and raise awareness about the importance of caring for the environment, especially in the practise of recycling.

All of the events that were carried out were designed to provide students with a medium for them to socialise with the school management, lecturers as well as their peers.
