Regional Communication Student Colloquium (RCSC) is organized yearly by the School of Communication, Universiti Sains Malaysia and aims to provide a platform for students to exchange their knowledge and perspectives through colloquium. To date, the colloquium was held in the years 2021 and 2022 online. The specific objectives of RCSC are;

To foster research culture among students, both undergraduates and postgraduates in preparing them to become competent and established scholars in the field of communication.
To give exposure to students on the research practices among scholars.
To enhance students’ interpersonal competence through presentations.

The colloquium is about “Celebrating Novice Researchers” in fostering students to share their novel ideas and offer opportunities for students to present their research to the communication society, from Malaysia to Southeast Asia regional countries such as Brunei, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Student Academic Handbook

Universiti Sains Malaysia has been offering Communication Studies programs since 1971 at the School of Humanities and its graduates have been awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In 1984, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of the Bachelor of Communication Degree Plan from the 1984/1985 Academic Session as a result of a report from the University Board of Studies. Taking into account the development of the communications industry, this study structure was once again amended and a new curriculum was implemented at the 1994/95 Academic Session. Subsequently, the three-year study curriculum was implemented from the 1996/97 Academic Session, in line with the announcement of the then Minister of Education for all local universities to offer three-year study. Meanwhile, the review was made again in 2009 and on 11 August 2011, the Department of Higher Education has approved the Bachelor of Communication (Hons) program for four years from the 2012/2013 Academic Session.
